This year, Bucharest Christmas Market is organized in the Constitution Square and runs between the 28th of November and the 26th of December, from 11:00 to 22:00. Every year, it attracts about 1 million visitors, both Romanians and foreigners. Apart from being beautifully decorated and hosting a 30-meter high Christmas tree, it offers a wide variety of products and activities for all ages. The entrance is free! Traditional Romanian Specialties
Yes, there are a lot of goodies out there: candies, homemade chocolate and cakes, pies, pancakes, pickles, sorbets, cabbage rolls with polenta, pork sausages and many other traditional Romanian dishes, hot chocolate, tea and, of course, a MUST try – mulled wine.
Handicrafts
There are more than 130 wooden stalls in the market and maybe about half of them sell handicrafts, which could be translated into original gift ideas for your dear ones: traditional Romanian shirts, pottery, decorations from carved wood, hand-painted Christmas balls, crocheted decorations and others.
Skating Rink
If you are into ice-skating, then you can try it for free at the Bucharest Christmas market. The rental of the skates is free of charge as well. However, the skating time per series is of 30 minutes, only 60 people per series allowed.
Santa Claus’ House & The Carousel
Between 13th and 24th of December, the little ones can meet Santa Claus and his elves and tell them what they want for Christmas this year. There is also a carousel where the kids can enjoy a magical ride.
Live Concerts and Various Shows
Last, but not least, in the evenings, the atmosphere is animated by concerts (carols, Romanian folk music, pop artists or bands and others), theatre plays or other events.
